KUCHING: FAME International College yesterday celebrates the achievements of its 201 graduates at the 22nd graduation ceremony, held in conjunction with the Second Graduation Ceremony of the FAME International Skills Academy at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
The graduates represented a wide range of programmes, including Bachelor’s degrees offered in partnership with the UK’s University of Cumbria, locally-developed diplomas, and certificates, as well as technical and vocational (TVET) education courses.
The event also celebrated the first cohort of 15 students completing the TVET Early Childhood Care and Development Education programme.
Gracing the occasion was Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, who is also state Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government.
Speaking at the event, Dr Sim congratulated the graduates, pointing out that with their success, they could contribute to Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.
He also commended their parents for their investment in education for their children, as well as the academic teachers for imparting knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes.
“Why do we instill such values?
“Its because we are here in Sarawak, we want to do something for Sarawak – that is what Sarawak’s nation building is all about.
“Those who stayed, its not because there are no jobs; they chose to stay in Sarawak because Sarawak is their home, our home,” he added.
Meanwhile, FAME International college and FAME International Skills Academy chief executive David Chew said FAME strove to provide excellence in higher education for 27 years, nurturing young talents.
FAME offers unique programmes in Sarawak in keeping up with the market needs such as Diploma in Digital Business and Diploma in FinTech (Financial Technology), he added.
He also spoke about FAME’s new seven-storey City Campus, located at TT3 here, which could accommodate up to 1,500 students by end of next year.
The ceremony also marked a significant moment for the FAME International Skills Academy, celebrating its second batch of graduates, including the first cohort of 15 students who completed the TVET Early Childhood Care and Development Education programme.
