Initiative to benefit local SMEs in line with state’s digital economy push

KUCHING: Alibaba.com, iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd and FAME International College are building an ecosystem that will benefit small and medium industries (SMEs) in Sarawak.

A statement from iCube Innovation said local SMEs will benefit through talent development and global market access.

“This initiative is in line with the state government’s goal to transform Sarawak into a digitalised economy,” it said.

iCube Innovation- a co-working space and innovation hub located at Icom Square- had on Friday collaborated with FAME to co-host a dialogue session between Alibaba.com and local SMEs.

It explained that the purpose of the dialogue session was to provide the SMEs with cross-understanding and learning about the digital economy through Alibaba’s platform.

The session was led by Alibaba.com-GSD Country Manager for Malaysia Eason Liu, with FAME chief executive officer David Chew acting as the facilitator.

“This is a start of building the road of e-commerce for local businesses,” the statement added.
