FAME International College recently welcomed Dr Chin Jia Jian, Lecturer in Computer Science from the University of Plymouth, UK, for an insightful guest lecture titled “Cloud Security and Migration Risk.”
Held at FAME International College, the session primarily provided Computer Science and IT students with an opportunity to expand their understanding of cloud security, cybersecurity and AWS Cloud Security. Students from other programmes also joined the session, gaining exposure to the growing importance of cybersecurity in today’s digital environment.
Bringing Cybersecurity Learning to Life with Minecraft Education
Beyond the guest lecture, students and lecturers had the opportunity to experience a more interactive approach to cybersecurity learning through Minecraft Education.
Instead of learning solely through presentation slides, students were able to explore concepts related to cyberattacks and network traffic within an interactive virtual environment. One of the activities challenged students to defend their berry farm using gates and towers, providing an engaging way to demonstrate how layers of protection can be used to defend valuable assets.
The activity brought a different dimension to the learning experience, allowing students to engage with cybersecurity concepts in a fun and memorable way.
Creating More Learning Opportunities for Students
The visit also provided an opportunity for FAME International College lecturers to engage in a fruitful discussion with Dr Chin on potential areas of collaboration that could further benefit students and enhance their learning experiences.
Through guest lectures, interactive activities and engagement with academics from international universities, FAME International College continues to provide students with opportunities to broaden their knowledge and experience learning beyond the traditional classroom.
The session was a valuable opportunity for students to discover how areas such as cloud computing, cybersecurity and digital security continue to shape today’s technology landscape.
