KUCHING: FAME International College will introduce niche programmes that are related to digital business and digital marketing soon, in line with the state government’s vision of transforming Sarawak into becoming a digital economy.
FAME International College chief executive officer David Chew disclosed that his side had set up a collaboration with Alibaba Group in May this year to dive into e-commerce training.
“There will be a lot more programmes related to the digital economy, which are currently in the pipeline,” he spoke at the college’s 15th graduation ceremony held in a hotel here yesterday.
According to Chew, the college is constantly transforming itself to be relevant while striving to provide their graduates with bright prospects in the competitive digital world.
“There is a big gap in Sarawak, especially when it comes to having talents in digital economy – which is where FAME International College can fill.
“There will be a lot of vacancies relating to digital economy which will be available in Sarawak in the near future.”
Chew also disclosed that a number of their academic staff had also attained the ‘Global Lecturer Certification’ under the Alibaba Global E-Commerce Talent (GET) programme.
FAME and its sister company FAME International Sdn Bhd, said Chew, had also conducted the ‘Building Your Digital
Business on Alibaba.com’ training to assist small and medium enterprises (SMEs) build their e-commerce platforms and expand their marketshare via Alibaba.com and other means.
Meanwhile, FAME International College chairman Datuk Seri Khairil Awang congratulated all 105 graduates who had worked hard throughout their studies.
The college, he said, is in the process of bringing two new bachelor programmes from its partner university, University of Cumbria of the UK – namely the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting and Finance; and the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in International Business Management.
The college, said Khairil, would also be developing three new diploma programmes – Diploma in Business Administration (Digital Marketing), Diploma in Entrepreneurship (Digital Business) and Diploma in Childhood Education.
“We expect to launch these programmes next year,” he said.
