FAME celebrates 25th Anniversary

 

KUCHING 22 October 2023: FAME International College (FAME) celebrates its 25th  anniversary with a grand dinner held in Borneo Convention Centre Kuching.

The grand celebration was graced by Deputy Premier of Sarawak Yang Berhormat Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian who also gave a keynote address.

Other invited guests joining the celebration include FAME’s UK partner university representatives, school representatives, industrialists, corporate leaders, graduates, and their families and friends. Earlier in the afternoon, the college held it 20th graduation ceremony for certificate, diploma, and degree graduates. The evening opened with a 24-season drums presentation followed by a cake-cutting ceremony.FAME’s CEO Mr David Chew gave his welcoming remarks and shared the college’s transformation initiatives.

A new city campus, capable of accommodating 1,500 students, will be operational by 2026 equipped with state-of-the-art technology set in a vibrant high-end new commercial and residential area. In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, a new FAME emblem was introduced. This is to symbolize the journey of the college over the 25 years of its achievement.FAME Meta Academy is launched. There will be a shift beyond the conventional approach to teaching and learning with the aim of more opportunities for reskilling and upskilling of our state’s talents. Throughout the evening members from several student clubs performed Latin dance and K-pop dance. The college student band entertains the diners with their rendition of songs in Chinese, Bahasa Malaysia and English.

Alumni awards were presented to deserving recipients whose outstanding achievements were recognised. Kelvin Tang received the Young Entrepreneur Award. The ICT/Digitization/Innovation Adoption Award was to Gary Goh Sau Loong, and Tang Chien Farn was given the Sports Achievement Award. Entrepreneurial Excellence Award went to Avertino Phua Twann Khiing, the Rising Star Award went to Elleen Bong, Service Sector Excellence Award went to Bong Tze Fang. Tan Lin was awarded Woman Entrepreneur Award, whilst Chai Ming Lun was given the Alumni Achievement Award. The Overseas Alumni Excellence Award went to Ngoc Uyen Trang (Sally).

The celebration ended with a presentation of the FAME song performed by all staff of the college.
