FAME and ACCA collaborate on Dual Diploma Pathway

KUCHING: FAME International College (FAME) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) exchanged the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the dual diploma programme on 18 October 2023.
The MoU is signed by FAME Chief Executive Officer Mr David Chew and the Portfolio Head of ACCA Maritime Southeast Asia Mr Andrew Lim on behalf of ACCA. Ms Jane Chiong, the Education Relationship Lead represented ACCA for the exchange ceremony.
The launch of FAME-ACCA dual diploma signifies that the Diploma in Accounting and Finance awarded by FAME International College is recognised by ACCA. This collaboration provides FAME students pursuing the Diploma in Accounting and Finance to take a fast-track route for a Professional Diploma awarded by ACCA, Diploma in Accounting and Business (DIAB) which is equivalent to Level 4 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF Level 4) or Year 1 of a 3-year bachelor’s degree in the United Kingdom.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chew said that this collaboration is vital as it is one of the push factors to produce 60,000 professional accountants in Malaysia by 2023 to support the Economic Transformation Programme. With the dual-diploma awards, students can opt to further studies with a bachelor’s degree or taking up ACCA professional qualification to become a professional accountant.
Chiong mentioned that the demand for future talent with Accounting and Finance skills is growing, and has proven to be resilient in the face of crisis and change. The ACCA qualification ensures that future members realise their potential and become the strategic forward-thinking finance professional the world needs. She added that the FAME-ACCA dual diploma pathway is an innovative approach that endows students with a remarkable advantage — the flexibility to seamlessly transition into the workforce or pursue advanced qualifications within the field of Accounting and Finance.
